When an aggressive and dangerous person is trying to enter your home during the SHTF, you need weapons that you can defend yourself with, and a taser gun has a lot of advantages. If you use a firearm, you will do serious damage to an intruder, if you don’t actually kill them. With a taser gun, you can react without hesitation and know with 99% certainty that the person you need to subdue will live. You might freeze up with a pistol in your hand and be scared to pull the trigger. That is natural and understandable. With a taser gun you don’t have to have such hesitation. You can tase a potential intruder right away and they will get the message.
Simply put, there are many confrontations that can be diffused with the use of non-lethal weapons. If you shoot someone with a taser gun, you won’t have the karma of taking their life weighing on you, if you believe in such things. When they catch those electric ( ), they are down for the count and you can retreat without risking your safety. Is that better than putting lead in someone’s kneecaps? We think so. You need lethal weapons like firearms to protect your life, but if you can use a non-lethal weapon instead, that’s what you should do.
Taser guns are reasonably affordable, making them a good non-lethal option to add to your arsenal of weapons. This is the model I bought, and I paid a good price for it.
What Taser Guns Do
A taser gun shoots 2 dart like electrodes that deliver a modulated electric current. The darts stay connected to the gun via wires, and these wires produce a considerable electromagnetic pulse. When this charge enters the body it causes a complete dysfunction of the muscular system. This paralyzes a potential assailant temporarily without causing them permanent harm. It produces a shocking and relentless wave of involuntary muscle contractions, subduing anyone regardless of the strength or size of the person.
Taser guns are widely used by police, for many of the reasons listed in the paragraph above. Anytime a police officer kills a criminal in the line of duty, an instant scandal almost always ensues. If the person gets tased, a short time later they will be cognizant and back to normal with no permanent damage.
This is a very effective way to subdue a threat. This device is more advantageous when away from home though, as you can easily retreat and they can wonder where you went later after the effects wear off. What if this person is in your doorway though? What do you do after the effects subside? That is a scenario you need to strategize and be mentally prepared for.
Situations Where A Taser Gun Is Helpful
If someone approaches you in your yard or in your doorway, and they pose a clear threat to you, using your taser gun might be a good first step. When the effects wear off and they are semi-cognizant you can let them know they are lucky that you used a non-lethal weapon and they can either be tasered again or perhaps become acquainted with a different gun. The threat will effectively be nullified as they run away with their tail between their legs.
What if you’re en route to your bug out location and a rabid dog approaches you with teeth showing ready to pounce. We touched on this in the post about pepper spray. For many people the thought of shooting or killing a dog is very troubling. If you shoot the dog that is about to sink its teeth into your flesh with a taser gun though, you know the dog will be fine 20 minutes later, and will probably think twice before becoming aggressive with humans again.
Another situation where a taser gun will be of great use to you is if you live in a country where obtaining a gun is next to impossible and comes with heavy criminal penalties if you’re caught. If you live in the UK or Australia or New Zealand a taser gun is a valuable means of self defense. Be sure to check your local laws on taser guns if this applies to you.
