Among the many potential personal injuries that are possible, none would be more harrowing than if you or a loved one started to have a heart attack, and that is why having a CPR mask pocket resuscitator is such a valuable addition to your preparations. When someone starts to have a heart attack, it is a critical moment in their life, where their life is on the line and it is life or death.
This item is well worth having even if you are not a prepper. Whether we are in a SHTF grid down situation or not, if someone is having a cardiac arrest or respiratory arrest and you are the only one that can help them, not knowing how to help them or not having the ability to help them is a feeling that I wouldn’t wish on anyone.

This CPR Resuscitator Is A Life Saving Device
Chances are you are not a trained nurse or emergency medical technician. You probably haven’t been in this situation before. Without this device in your first aid preps it is hopeful that you can save someone, but what if you don’t have the capacity to? It’s a scary thought. This device gives you the best chance at saving someone who might be having a cardiac or respiratory arrest. I can’t even fathom what it would be like if this happened and the hospitals weren’t up and running. There would also be no ambulance you could call either. Scary stuff!
If you could literally save someone’s life while they are at risk of dying that is a true blessing both for yourself and for the person at risk. Having someone you love die of a cardiac or respiratory arrest as our world is crumbling around us is probably one of the worst potential scenarios during times of survival. You can bet that ambulances and EMT professionals won’t be available as they typically would. Even if they were and things were in a normal state, the chances of them making it to you in time to save the afflicted person’s life would be a gamble.
Heart Attack And Cardiac Arrest Explained
While both are a serious health crisis of the heart, cardiac arrest and a heart attack are not the same thing. Cardiac arrest occurs when the heart has stopped pumping blood. When the blood stops circulating, soon you stop breathing and soon you have no pulse.
A heart attack is caused by a blood clot that totally blocks a blood vessel to the heart, thereby starving your heart muscle of blood and oxygen. This will cause a distinct pain that can range from as little as mild discomfort to heavy pressure that resembles a burning sensation in the chest.
A tip that I heard from Dr. Oz is to take 2 aspirin, but instead of swallowing them, chew them. By chewing them the contents can absorb faster in the saliva and get into your bloodstream. You need the contents of the aspirin in your bloodstream immediately, and your digestive system won’t be operating very well if you’re in the midst of a heart attack or cardiac arrest. Keep some aspirin in your first aid kit for this and a host of other reasons.
It’s a shame that if this happens when the SHTF, you probably won’t be able to call 911. In normal times, an ambulance would speed to your location with high dose oxygen, and the tools and expertise to give someone the best possible chance of living.
