A solar rechargeable flashlight is a very interesting item to have in your preps. It’s an especially useful item to stash away in your bug out bag. If you let the sun’s rays charge it during the day, it will be available for use in the night time. It could end up being a very valuable backup if it’s needed. So for those reasons I find this a desirable item that is worth procuring. In addition, I love anything that combines solar and prepping.
If you’re a solar addict like me, why not add a flashlight to the mix! When the grid goes down, you can’t have enough light sources., You should have survival candles, multiple flashlights, a solar portable power station you could plug a small lamp into, and an abundance of lighters and matches. I think a solar rechargeable flashlight rounds that out quite nicely.
Why This Solar Flashlight Is A Nice Tool
I’m really a fan of solar powered tools and gear, and a solar rechargeable flashlight is something I’m really glad to have. If the grid is down, it is going to be pitch black at night. There will be no street lights and no lighting to illuminate your home either. This makes you susceptible to all kinds of precarious situations.

Luckily, many people will have a flashlight in their home and have use of it when the grid goes down and everything is dark. Hopefully, their batteries will last them however long they need to last. Lighting sources are one thing some people into prepping overlook. Maybe the flashlight they already had with its old batteries is enough to get by with. I like to be over prepared, especially when the items to over prepare with are reasonably cheap.
Some might think I’m going overboard, and maybe I am. I have an abundance of batteries in my preps. I have other flashlights that can use the said batteries. Several actually. All that being said, I probably don’t need a solar rechargeable flashlight, but I have one anyways, I guess I mostly like the opportunities it presents if I have to bug out. Or maybe I’m just a prepping addict that loves anything solar.
Equal Benefits At Home Or When You Have To Bug Out
I currently have two flashlights in my bug out bag. One that works on standard batteries, and this solar powered rechargeable flashlight as a back up. If I have to leave my home and bog down at one of my bug out locations, having a dependable source of light is very important. It will be very dark at night at my bug out locations I have strategized for myself. While my battery powered camping lantern will be really good for inside of my tent, I need good flashlights for projecting light and for when I need to leave my tent.
Aside from potential bug out scenarios, I like having this flashlight at home too, where I hope and expect to weather the storm. Having anything that is rechargeable with solar power from the sun is a big win as far as I’m concerned. One thing people are often mistaken about is that it has to be “sunny” to be able to recharge a solar device. While it is certainly better if there is strong sunshine, an overcast day is still capable of generating solar energy for your recharging needs. If it is day time before sunset, you will get some solar energy no matter what.
