When you are living through volatile and dangerous times where dog eat dog, you’ll need an arsenal of weapons to help you survive. Different scenarios call for different weapons, and having a choice to select from will give you both confidence and a sense of utility. When building a selection of weapons, a machete can certainly be of use and find its place in your arsenal.
A machete is a very intimidating weapon that certainly makes a statement. A machete can easily end someone’s life when used with force. Just ask anyone who has watched the classic horror movie Friday the 13th with Jason Voorhies, or one of its 27 sequels. A machete can sever a limb, or literally sever someone’s head right off their neck. This is a serious weapon that anyone will respect if you make it clear you are not playing around. As long as they don’t have a gun.
Reasons To Add A Machete To Your Preps
While you might entertain the option of procuring several different types of firearms, you really only need one machete. Luckily, they aren’t too expensive to purchase. I got mine on Amazon and I am very happy with it. I could have selected more expensive machetes, but I’m very happy with the one I picked up.
A machete can also double as a useful tool if you find yourself leaving your domicile to survive in a bug out location. Machetes can make ease of cutting down branches and limbs, and also clearing away brush if you are trying to make your way through a densely wooded area. It’s an item that doubles both as a tool and as a weapon.
I honestly prefer the machete as a tool opposed to a weapon. I make good use of mine when I go camping or during deer hunting season. They’re very useful for clearing a path through dense brush and foliage. I also bring my machete with me when I’m scouting out new bug out locations, and typically find a use for it then.
How Important Is A Machete For Survival?
Do you really need a machete to survive a SHTF scenario? In all honesty, probably not. Especially if we are able to weather the storm from our homes. There’s that saying about bringing a knife to a gun fight. You would probably need to think having a machete is cool like I do. Even if you don’t have my enthusiasm, they are quite affordable. That alone could make a machete worth considering.
If you have to leave your home and head to your bug out location though, which is a possibility, a machete is a great item to have on hand. Then again, you might want to stash your machete away at your bug out location. When I settle on a final decision for the best bug out location I get can get to quickly, I plan on burying several essential tools there. Those will include a machete, a hacksaw, and a shovel. I’ll wrap them good and bury them about 3 feet deep. I can use my folding shovel to dig them up when I get there.
So yeah, a machete is worth getting considering you can get one for about the price of a value meal at a fast food restaurant. Not so much as a weapon, but as a multi-use potential weapon that can be of a lot of use to you if you have to leave your home, or if your plan is to leave your home to begin with. Enjoy your machetes and rock on preppers!
