Defending Potential Attacks From Aggressors

One of the worst things most people can imagine is attacks from aggressors during a grid down scenario of chaos. The premise of such an event is terrifying, and unfortunately also something we need to prepare for. When people are in a desperate state, and they fear death from malnutrition or other conditions, they will do whatever they have to do. In some instances, said conditions will make people lose their mind, making them even more unpredictable. This is the sad reality of what a SHTF scenario will bring us.

There are also a slim minority of people, maybe 1%, who relish the possibility of a potential attack because they have a few screws loose and they would love the opportunity to kill in self defense. We will assume that you are not in that camp, and that you want to avoid potential conflicts and harming others at all costs.

Heading 1

A good place to start, would be to be very discreet about your preps and your state of survival when things are pandemonium. You want your domicile to look abandoned from a distance, and far from easy to penetrate close up. If you have a source of electricity from a generator or a solar source, you want to be as conspicuous as possible about your power use. You want to refrain from cooking aromatic foods, as people’s sense of smell for food will be heightened as their stomachs grumble.

It would be a good idea to board up your windows as soon as things start, and an even better idea would be to have thorny plants or bushes around the perimeter of your home, especially in front of any windows. This will dissuade almost everyone from trying to enter. Their only means of entry will be through the front door, which you can have barricaded inside.

Warnings

If the perimeter of your home is secure and the front door is the only means of entry, a good “I shoot first and ask questions second” sign on the door is a good deterrent. Most people will believe you. Regardless of that it is crucial that you don’t open your door for anyone you don’t know very well. If you do, you have given a potential aggressor an opportunity that they shouldn’t have. If you open the door, you might have to defend yourself with force.

If someone somehow makes their way into your home without your permission, you will have to decide which weapon in your arsenal you want to employ. Hopefully brandishing such a weapon and knowing what to say will cause such a person to immediately back off and leave. This isn’t a sure thing though.

Using Deadly Force

If your life or the life of a loved one is in jeopardy, using deadly force might be the only option available to you. If someone tries to invade your domicile and they have a gun, knife or deadly weapon, you’ll have to act quickly. Then another thing to contemplate is if you
