Night Vision Goggles

When security of your home or bug out location is critical, a pair of night vision goggles will be a very valuable addition to your preps. With a good pair of night vision goggles or binoculars, you will be able to see potential threats from a distance at night when they can’t see you. They are also of great value if you need to move locations at night and need to see things clearly to avoid injuring yourself. Walking through the woods at night when it is pitch black can make you susceptible to spraining your ankle, falling down and hurting yourself and walking into poison ivy or a sharp thorny briar patch. You have to remember that it will be very dark. There won’t be nearby streetlights or other light pollution to make things partially visible.

A good pair of night vision goggles will also be a real benefit when it comes to hunting. Most animals have superior vision to humans when it’s dark, but none to my knowledge are able to see with such clarity in the dark as you could while wearing night vision goggles. This will put you at a real advantage when hunting deer, or smaller more seldom eaten animals like squirrels, possum or coyotes. You might say to yourself “I would never eat those animals. That sounds disgusting!” Well…….if you’re really hungry and you haven’t eaten meat in weeks or heaven forbid, months, you just might.

Being able to see others when they can’t see you is beyond an advantage.

There are 2 different types of night vision goggles: thermal imaging and image intensification. When you think of night vision with a green color coating, that’s image intensification. Thermal imaging, which is less common than image intensification, translates invisible heat into imagery we can see. Without a heat source though, thermal imaging does not work. When most people think of night vision, they are thinking of the green color coating of image intensification. That’s the type of night vision goggles we recommend.
